April is all about poetry – Vol. 1, no. 20

This is the month that leads the way into Spring and reminds one of the heralding of the coming months of Summer.  As the heralder, it reminds one of trumpet blasts and careless brigands about to be routed.

‘Burnt to the Water Line’

Volleys of cannon shot

arc eerily through the night.

Leaving fiery traces across

sable lined clouds.

Shouts of disordered chaos

float over storm tossed

winds of perversity.

Triumphant cries of warriors

sound like trumpet blasts.

That herald long awaited

victory.  Sails blown full of

holes.  Timbers groaning their

doom as the ashes hiss against waves

that innocently lap against the hull.
