April is all about poetry – Vol. 1, no. 8

Peaches and apple trees have been blooming as well as the cherry trees, and  anticipation in April is in the air.  Days of sunshine, beaches and balls,  beckons summer believers to dance, dance, dance. Allowing poetical words and  phrases to play like will-o-the-wisps inside the drafty corridors of eternal  mind-scapes.  Oh, this is truly fun, isn’t it?  Okay, back to  work.

With that said, here is the eighth addition to the first volume:

‘Leave it all behind’

If the Master asked you

to leave it all behind,

Could you?

Would you?

Or would the cords of

ownership bind your heart,

and quietly smother

your vision of the Lord?

Ideas pondered over

morning coffee, hot

and black,

recollections of the rich

young ruler; who thought

more of his father’s wealth,

than treading the perilous

path of salvation.

Easy street beckons,

calls your name.

It echoes with the eerie

stillness of emptiness.

If the Master asked you,

to leave it all behind?

Could you?

Would you?
